The Bayshore Marathon starts at 7:15 AM on the grounds of Northwestern Michigan College, then winds through one mile of residential neighborhoods. The majority of the race will follow the waterfront along the East Arm of Grand Traverse Bay including Birchwood Drive, East Shore Road, Center Road (M-37) and Bluff Road. The course is flat, 100% paved and shaded along much of the route. Expect a fast and scenic race with some of the most breathtaking views available on any marathon course. There will be 18 aid stations on the course. Absolutely no roller blades, pets, wagons, baby joggers or other wheeled vehicles will be allowed on the course. Radio/tape, I-Pod, MP3 player, or similar head sets are strongly discouraged. If you are considering wearing headphones please read our notice on the FAQ page The average high temperature at this time of year is 66°F, and the average low is 41°F.

Gun Times will be the official time used for overall awards and prize money, more info can be found on the Results page. Chip or “Net” time will be used for age group awards and will be submitted to the Boston Athletic Association when available.

There will be no race day registration for any of the Bayshore races.

  • All Full Marathon runners will receive a short sleeve gender-specific tech shirt.

  • All Full Marathon finishers will receive a finisher’s medal and will be given out at the finish line. (See below)

  • Age group awards will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in all age groups (14 & Under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65.69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90 & Up). Award medals will be engraved and mailed out to all age group winners (continental U.S. only) within 4-5 weeks after the race.

  • Cost: $105 until December 31 2019, $110 from January 1st 2020 to February 28th 2020, $115 from March 1st to April 30,2020, $120 from May 1st to May 19th 2020.

  • There will be a limit of 1800 Runners in the 2020 Full Marathon.

  • Prize Money is available for the following using Gun Time and will be mailed after the results are finalized :

    • Overall Winners

      • 1st Overall Male & Female - $1000*

      • 2nd Overall Male & Female - $750

      • 3rd Overall Male & Female - $250

      • *Additional $500 for course record (M-2:17:40 W-2:46:23)

    • Masters Winners (40 & Up)

      • 1st Masters Male & Female - $500

      • 2nd Masters Male & Female - $250

      • 3rd Masters Male & Female - $125
